ELKS MEN'S GOLF LOCAL RULES:

*All USGA Golf Rules apply with the exception of the following list of Elks Men's golf local rules.

COSTELLO RULE:
If your gross handicap is 20 or higher and your age combined with the handicap adds up to 90 or higher, you will be allowed to play from the front tees. West Course (Green) East Course (Silver Tees.)

OUT OF BOUND, or LOST BALL:
If a golfer hits a ball out of bounds, or the ball is lost, the golfer must re-tee or re-hit from where the ball was originally hit. NO DISTANCE RULE.

CLEAN AND PLACE:
If a ball is in the fairway or rough and it has visible mud on the ball, you are allowed to mark where the ball is, lift and clean it, then place the ball as close to the original lie as possible. You are not entitled to a club length.

DIRT OR UNUSUAL CONDITIONS IN THE FAIRWAY:
The ball may be placed in a grass area, no closer to the hole. This only applies if the dirt area is in the fairway and would usually be grass. Play as you would for ground under repair.

TREE ROOTS AND TREE STUMPS:
If your ball is on tree root or a cut tree stump and it hinders your swing, you will be allowed to move the ball without a penalty stroke. A free drop within one club length of the obstruction will be allowed.

​ALL PUTTS ARE TO BE COMPLETED IN THE HOLE:
(No Gimme allowed) If a player violates the rule, they will be disqualified from the side pot money for that day and possibly future entries in the side pot. Based on review of Officers.
IMMOVABLE OBSTUCTION CLOSE TO THE PUTTING GREEN:
The immovable obstruction (sprinkler head or valve box) must be within two club-lengths of the putting green; and must be within two club-lengths of the ball; and must intervene on the line of play between the ball and the hole.

OLD HOLE IN LINE OF A " PUTT" WHILE ON THE GREEN OR FRINGE:
If you are on the green or the fringe and are intending to putt and an old hole is "directly in the path of your putt," you may mark the ball, then remark either left or right in order to "putt" avoiding the old hole.

HOLE #2 ON THE EAST COURSE:
​
​The fenced area and all the right side is an environmental hazard. It may be played as a lateral hazard at the point of entry or re-tee. If a ball is close to the fence, the golfer may take swing and stance relief plus one club length, no closer to the hole.
​
PUMP HOUSES AND BATHROOM:
A golfer may take line of flight relief from the closest point of relief , no closer to the hole.
​
DECORATIVE ROCKS AND UNSTAKED TREE RULE:
Trees and rocks are part of the golf course. There is no free relief. Staked trees, is swing and stance relief, plus one club length, no closer to the hole. .
